The words we live by: You Never Stop Learning - and that means we want you to have access to resources to continue (or begin) your personal and professional growth for whatever leadership strength or skill you care to improve or develop. Successful leadership is based on the development of strong relationships and this is often not easy!

Leadership doesn’t just reside inside the walls of corporate life, does it? Every industry, business, committee, civic group, community activity, sports team and more requires leadership – and not just from the person designated “Leader”.

Each member of the group brings unique strengths and abilities for different functions within the group – positional leadership and influential leadership both play strong roles in a group’s success.

Your ability to develop and maintain effective relationships will influence any group's or team's success -work the relationships!

As you work with people, don’t assume you know all the answers; consider the questions below you may think you know the answer to! For example:

Are You Aware of How Others View You?

We may each think we know the answer, but very often our intended effect is quite different from what people actually experience when they interact with us. (Think about those less-than-successful-interactions you can recall - did you really INTEND for that to be the outcome or could you actually be less effective than you’d like?)

I’d surely start with a DiSC Profile to learn more about myself and how I come across to others – this is a simple way to confirm or discover your primary behaviors. Explore your DiSC options here.

How important is it to be multi-dimensional as a leader for success?

We’ve all worked with people who say “Take me or leave me - this is how I am” and what they’re trying to do is be honest and not be something they don’t’ think they can or need to be.

But can’t we honestly portray other, less dominant, strengths when the situation calls for it? Directness and being straightforward are valuable, but what if compassion is the best way to deal with a certain situation? And can you combine compassion and directness? Can you be more than one face, one dimensional?

While we each have one or two primary strengths, others should include these leadership faces: Pioneering, Energizing, Affirming, Inclusive, Humble, Deliberate, Resolute, or Commanding – are you all of those? Check out the 8 Dimensions of Leadership resources here.

How Could One-on-One Coaching Make a Difference for You?

Sometimes it just makes sense to have someone else to work with – someone who isn’t directly involved in your situation, but can understand it and see it from a different point of view and from a safe place.

Having worked in corporate life for decades and then having run our own business for many years, we’ve learned a lot about working successfully with others and one-on-one-coaching (virtual or in person) can lead to success or continued difficulties. Learn how we approach one-on-one-coaching for your best outcome.
